Yes!!!!

So, here is what we have found out so far...David and I had previously planned a trip to Dave's parent's for this weekend, so it worked out that we could go through some older documents with them. We did recover a document that has multiple official stamps (look like postal stamps) and imprints that we later found out is most likely his "registro civil de nacimiento", and it also appears to be a "copia fiel" or "copia autenticada" from the notaria that David's father would have met with when David was born.

For those who do not know Spanish or are not acquainted with Colombian paperwork, simply said, we seem to have found what the ICBF is looking for...David's Colombian Birth Certificate. This is wonderful news! We have been collaborating this weekend with another Colombian on this paperwork (thanks Debbie!!!), and feel reassured that we are at least on the right track. We have additionally emailed Julie with what we have and a question on whether Colombia will need an 'original' or if we can have a color copy certified and sent (through notary and apostille). Hopefully we will hear back from her sometime today.

In the event that Julie feels we should send an original, David is planning to travel to one of the Colombian Embassys to get a couple copies of his birth certificate. We have discussed that it would probably be best if he did this anyway. We continue to invite your prayers as we await official word on whether this will satisfy Colombia's need to verify David's birth. The great news is that we now know that the ICBF is reviewing our paperwork and that perhaps we are not too far off from approval and an eventual referral!!!!
