On Friday, we received a second email for the week indicating that our paperwork is now off to Pereira in the department of Risaralda! How awesome is that!
It was fun to search for Pereira on the map and to discover that it is in the heart of coffee country and the Andes Mountains! Now, I believe I actually had a God-appointed moment prior to receiving our regional information this week! I believe it was God's peek in time to the region that we would next be shifting our hearts to and perhaps traveling within.
I was on a mission to the bookstore the other night. While there I came across a children's book about a young llama that lives in the Andes Mountains! I even found a stuffed baby llama to go with it! So, being that this book was inspired by South American landscape and culture, I couldn't resist! It was then sooooooooo cool to get a regional assignment Friday for that very region! I think that was a God moment...it would be easy to say 'ironic', but I think that there was more to it than that.

Sheila and David,
What wonderful news. I know how hard it is to not announce it to the world about some of the news you get without first letting your family now. We will be praying for you that a referral comes soon. On Jan 14th, we were told our dossier was approved. Then 15 days later we received our referral. Hope it is quick for you.
Oh my ! How quick! Awesome news!
Congrats! That is so exciting!
Where do you live in Penna.? I grew up there (outside Philadelphia, in Souderton); I went to college in Langhorne and worked in the Kensington section of Philly as a college student.
Anyway! I can imagine your excitement! God is good!
Sheila, Oh my what wonderful news! I have not seen your updates lately, I joined google reader and for some reason your updates were not coming through. Anyway, I am very excited for you.
How exciting to know where you will be going! Now the wait to see who you're going to meet there!
Sheila and David,
Congrats!!! This is wonderful news. I had not looked at your blog in a while so this was a nice surprise! Keep us posted...
Sheila and David,
We are thrilled for you!!! It brings back the awesome memories and makes us hug on our kiddos a little tighter. Nate thinks that your blog is awesome!

Sheila,
I am SO excited for you. How amazing to have a region. I can't wait to read the rest of your adventures.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Hey, Sheila,
Man, I am so slow with comments sometimes! Yes, I did graduate from PCB (now PBU).
I have an aunt and uncle who live in Harrisburg; they formerly lived in Dalmatia, but both work in the city and have moved there (my aunt works for NIE).
Funny you suggested a Nouwen book. Our small group is now on our 2nd book by him; first, we did Reaching Out, and now we are doing one on prayer (something like Open Hands, but I can't remember off the top of my head!). Someone else had recommended Life of the Beloved, or something like that (wow, my memory is so horrible!).
Anyway, I continue to love to follow your journey and am so excited for what God has in store for you!!
Mark and Debi,
Just wanting to check in with you. You doing okay? I keep waiting for that referral post. Just so you know, when Julie gave us our regional assignment, she accidently gave us yours. She called us right back and said she had us mixed up. Anyway, she said Pereira takes longer than some of the other regions, but, it's been almost a month, so I would imagine April has good news waiting for you!!!
Congratulations! I found your blog through some of the others I follow. It will happen faster than you can imagine, especially as a "Colombian" family. I think we submitted our paperwork to ICBF mid July, got notification of our referral on Sept 11. The referral we would later find out was made on Aug 31 so it was really fast. Also just an FYI ICBF considers 0-2 years old equal to 0-35 months, although you are most likely to be at the lower end of that range. It was a shock to see the actual letter and see up to 35 months. Our son was 11 month the day we got the referral and we were approved for 12-35 months.
Looking forward to following along since I don't know anything about that area of Colombia.
