Words Cannot Convey...

...what we felt yesterday as we discovered water pouring into our basement from a burst pipe!

Yesterday Dave and I were on our way out to notarize two documents that we need for our trip, tomorrow!!!!!! Anyway...Dave noticed water coming from a pipe off to the side of our house as we were about to leave. After some investigation, Dave returned to the front of the house to say that the good news was that our 'sump-pump?' works, while the bad news was that there was now water pouring out of one of our drain/sewer pipes!

After an 'oh no' moment! we frantically began the calls to plumbers and friends trying to track down someone who could come in, assess the problem, and take care of it before we leave tomorrow. All told, a plumber came out yesterday afternoon and found that our old piping had started to deteriorate, causing back-up in the sewer piping...consequently causing the old, brittle pipes in our house to burst! I guess the good news is that we were home when it happened and discovered it sooner rather than later. Today the plumber will return to actually replace the piping. He has to do some 'hammering' around some piping as it has cement poured around it from years ago; hopefully no additional problems will be revealed when he exposes this part of the piping. =)

To say that we are excited about leaving for Colombia...and meeting Jonatan on Tuesday is an understatement! (And not because we want to get away from some of the random events here. LOL!) We plan to take our laptop and sort of journal our way through meeting and getting settled as a family, and can't wait to share that with family and friends!

Hi Sheila and David! Here is wishing you a safe trip to Colombia tomorrow. I can't wait to see the pics of you with your son. SOrry to hear about your pipes but at least you were still here to take care of it. Looking forward to following your journey with your son!

That's so wild that you also had a pipe-bursting problem such as the Boyacheks did upon leaving just a week ago. So glad you were there to straighten it out. Just beware, the enemy loves to create distractions such as this at times like this! Keep your eyes focused on God and He'll carry you through! And the best of His precious gifts awaits you in Pereira!!!! Can you believe you're only days away from meeting that little bundle of joy?

We'll be checking for updates.
