Less than 2 weeks!

Well, time sure does fly...it was just 2 weeks ago that we were receiving news of Jonatán, and it will be exactly 2 weeks tomorrow that we meet our dear hijo! Oh my, I can hardly wait!

In taking a hike at a local nature preserve yesterday, I was reminded of the signs of new life that keep popping forth as spring proceeds to summer. While fall has my vote for tops in seasons, spring follows not too far behind. It is wonderful to hear the birds singing once again...to see the brilliant colors in shrubs and flowers...to see the trees budding...

This new life brought me round circle to thoughts of a son...meeting Jona for the first time...discovering more of who he is and the personality that God continues to develop within him...the new life that all of us both individually and as a family will soon embark on! I stand in suspense and excitement at what is to come.

Tonight, in about 15 minutes, we will have our travel call with Julie. This, I am sure, will help to answer some remaining questions that we have. In the meantime, we have some final things we are doing around the house...nothing major, thankfully...just trying to get some spring landscaping done, toddler-proofing of cabinets, etc.

Dave's mom continued into the weekend doing poorly. Her stroke was cerebellar in nature...in short, it has affected her equillibrium in addition to some of the language and communication challenges she faces from the first. She is also very weak, unable to hold herself up when standing or sitting on the edge of her bed. Her attending physician would like to see her do some rehab, but each time she has been taken for a rehab evaluation her blood pressure and heart rate have dropped significantly enough to warrant taking her immediately back to her room. Right now the cardiologist is changing some medications to see if they can get her rate and pressure under control. As a family, we continue to claim Proverbs 3:5,6...most especially Proverbs 3:5...it is so very hard to understand from a human perspective why things like this happen. I can say that I am thankful to see all the care that my in-laws are receiving from family and friends. It brings us much peace and reassurance of God's care and provision as we look to travel next week.

I can't believe it has been 2 weeks already since getting the wonderful news. You and your family will be in our prayers. I will say a special prayer for your mother-in-law to gain the strength to make it to rehab.

You think time is flying now - wait until you get home! When I stopped and counted how many months we've been home I couldn't believe it. Some days it seems like a short time and other days I can't hardly remember what it was like before.

Countdown time and you sound so relaxed! You are a natural mom! I am so excited for you! I will keep you in my prayers as you prepare and for your mother-in-law. I'm sure Julie will put you at ease with all the details tonight. I am enjoying following your story!
