Colombia Bound~La Familia Derr

I am thinking that I should be in bed by now, although am having trouble settling this evening/night...so, it seemed fitting to spend some time updating our blog and catching friends and family up on happenings in our household.

If you didn't notice, I decided to revert back to 'Colombia Bound' as a blog title. While we love the outdoors, the whole 'Field Notes' thing just wasn't working for me...It just seemed a bit 'cheesy' to try and re-work our blog title into some sort of outdoor analogy...and, besides, we really do love 'Colombia Bound' as it not only depicted well what we were moving towards in our adoptive preparations, but now the even deeper connection to Colombia that we have as a family.

I had been intending to set aside some time to post more pictures of Jonatan, although I can honestly say that we have just not had the time. So, here are some pictures from the remainder of July and beginning of August:

Here's one for you Aunt Brooke! While this picture doesn't adequately show the love that Jonatan has for Brooke, we can honestly say that Brooke made top marks in Jonatan's book!

Oh my, while we have only known Jonatan such a short time, it is so very hard to believe that he will be turning 2 in September! Where does the time go! When I think back to our first meeting as a family and where Jonatan was developmentally, it is amazing to think of how he has grown physically, verbally, and socially. Each day we are getting even more snipits of his personality and giftedness. It has been such a treat.

This picture was taken on a visit with a couple that Dave has known since college. Glen and Dave enjoyed the opportunity to share a bit in Spanish while our boys...all three...ran around and got a lot of energy out of their systems! Jonatan absolutely loved this ride!

This past Sunday our church had a child dedication service...or, rather, a parent dedication...see our previous post for an explanation if you are curious. Woody, our senior pastor always holds the kids and prays over each of them...well, we knew that Jonatan would go to him, but didn't know how long he would stay...and, it wasn't very long...although at the end of the dedication, he left Patty, our children's pastor (in the foreground of this pic) pick him up and carry him across the sanctaury to her son 'Bubba' which was an ego stomper for Woody...so sorry, Woody! He will come around! Ha!

Jonatan is a bit obsessed with biking...I went to hop on my bike to head to work the other night and he literally had a meltdown because I was getting to ride my bike and he wasn't going to be able to do the same. (So much for missing Mom, right! LOL)

I think Jonatan was trying to make noises with his mouth here...as sometimes this is the only way to get him to 'pose' and smile for a picture...he and a new friend, Dylan, got to spend the better part of a day at Hershey Park recently. They loved it.

Jonatan and some mealtime fun...need I say more!

This is one of the murals at a local park...painted by local students from the elementary, junior, and senior highs. It is the Harrisburg High School Cougar, I believe...at any rate, Jonatan loves the texture of this wall and can't resist running his fingers and hands over it.

One of our daily playground adventures:

And, until next time..."Chau" or "Ciao"

Goodness time has flown! I haven't had time to check blogs much lately but really enjoyed getting caught up. Jonatan looks an incredible amount older since Colombia. We sure hope to see you all again sometime. It was such a joy to meet you all and seeing pictures of Jonatan just makes my heart so full and happy. Can't wait to see how the big 2nd birthday goes!
