Hi everyone, this is David writing today, I had promised to write more so here goes. We are all doing well except the last couple of days I have had a headache. I think I just need to drink more water. It is a little more difficult because you can’t just drink right out of the faucet. They have a water purification system in the kitchen downstairs that we can get water. They also have a container in our room of water. When we go out on trips like Salento yesterday I forget to drink extra water in order to replenish what the sun is taking out. Sheila and Jonatan don’t seem to have the same problem for rehydration, Jonatan is always asking for agua or jugo or leche. So he is fine. Other than my headache we are fine.
Things are going well with Jonatan. Although I think we have transitioned past the honeymoon period. He is probably a little more fussy, but not bad at all. As for me, I am learning a lot about being a parent to this little guy. Sheila says the key is to be one step ahead of him. Anticipate what he will need (ie. if giving him a bath) or what he will want (ie. if you need to distract him a way from something like touching something he shouldn’t touch on the table). Sometimes we can suggest to him something like reading a book or something else, but somehow it has to be his own idea so he will say no and want to do something else before coming back to your suggestion, thus making it his own idea. It is so cute.
It is fun to see what really excites him, playing ball, walking up and down the stairs continuously, and swimming. We had a hard time getting his diaper changed on Saturday at the pool because he wanted to be in the water. He just cried even though we were only taking him out for a short time. He also has a big appetite. He enjoys practically everything we have given him including vegetables.
I didn’t read where Sheila wrote about this. Our plague of bursting pipes continues. Yesterday morning we woke up to a big puddle in the bathroom again. It turns out that a pipe behind the toilet in the wall must have burst. We laid towels on the floor, they were sopping wet. We joked around a little with Betty (who helped us last week with leaking faucet knob). We gave them another bag of Hershey’s chocolate for their trouble. By the way the staff here are so awesome and the food here is wonderful. Just so you know these things like pipes bursting can happen anytime, anywhere. It just so happens the anywhere is wherever we are. So you may not want us to visit your house anytime soon LOL.
They offered us another room and strongly suggested that we move this time because they were going to be knocking a hole in the wall in order to get to the problem. We reluctantly accepted (we really like the room we were in). This new room is very nice. It has a balcony and 2 twin beds and a toddler bed. It has a walk in closet area that leads to the bathroom. The French family of 4 had been staying here and they left on Friday. I hate to say this but it is a nicer room.
Well today is going to be a low key day at Rancho Relaxo (really El Cortijo). It is nice because we need the rest. It seems like we have had a busy couple of days. Jonatan slept in this morning till about 10 AM, and is currently being put down for an afternoon nap.
Well I hope you all have a wonderful day. Thanks for your prayers and words of encouragement. Sorry that there are no pictures in this post. I am new at this and don’t have a clue how to add pictures to this entry. Perhaps Sheila will help me post pictures later today. Let us know if you have any questions about Colombia or this area. We would be happy to answer them. Thanks.
